Why I like getting corrections in French

You probably won't be surprised to hear that I make A LOT of mistakes during my 60-minute conversation lessons.

But because I am 100% focused on trying to express myself in French, I don't take notes.

Whenever I make a mistake, my tutor repeats the phrase or sentence the correct way.

Then I repeat after her.

So it’d be impossible for me to remember all the mistakes and corrections I receive.

Luckily, I don’t have to!

After each lesson, my tutor sends me a personalized feedback doc (the one I sent you a few days ago).

The doc has a list of sentences I said during our lesson, but written the right way.

The words and phrases I made mistakes with are underlined and highlighted, making it easy for me to see what I need to work on.

The first time I got this doc, I was blown away.

I could easily see the exact words, phrases, and grammar errors I was making.

I found this type of detailed feedback so powerful, I knew I couldn’t let it go to waste.

That's why I wanted to share it with you.

So you have an example of what working with a French tutor can be like.

More personal.

More practical.

And overall more fun!

The personalized corrections I've gotten are so useful I create Anki flashcards out of them.

I go through the doc, pull out the words and phrases I know I’ll use in future conversations, and create flashcards for them.

Why?

Because repetition makes permanent in language learning.

À la prochaine!

When I first started managing monthly promos for my creator clients, there were a lot of moving pieces. So I created a system to make it easier for myself: a monthly promo template. A document I could open every month and see exactly what I needed to do. When it came to writing the emails, they needed to be authentic and connect with their audiences. That didn’t just mean writing in my clients’ specific brand voice… That also meant using personal stories and details. One of the easiest ways...

moules frites copywriting in the wild

I spent all of August exploring France in an RV and I loved it! 8-year-old me used to beg my mom to buy me an RV so I could live on my own but still come home for dinner. So not only did I finally live out my RV dream, I also got to practice my French (been learning for a year and half) AND I discovered moules frites 🤤. Mussels and fries with a crisp glass of white wine on the side was everything I needed this summer. But there were signs for moules frites everywhere and I knew there had to...

I love stand-up comedy. Growing up, I used to watch Def Comedy Jam and Comedy Central on TV. Now with YouTube and Netflix, there are so many more options. So the other day I was watching a podcast where comedian Hannah Berner said something I knew I'd email you about. (Yup, I'm a Giggler...IYKYK) When talking about her first Netflix special, We Ride At Dawn, she explained how she initially didn't have a joke that paired with the title. So she reworked one of her jokes at the end to include...
